The Brief History of RC Las Pinas West The Rotary Club of Las Pinas West was chartered on April 17, 1986, the 2nd club to be organized in Las Pinas. Its creation was made possible through the joint efforts of some dynamic Rotarians from the Rotary Clubs of Las Pinas and Cavite East. The club used to belong to District 3810 at its conception but is now under District 3830 after the spin off from D 3810. Throughout its existence, the RCLPW has done so much to help the people of Las Pinas City and beyond its boundaries as well. To name a few of the major projects and activities of the club: 1. The adoption of the Pilar Village Elementary School in Pilar Village, Las Pinas City as our adopted community whereby the club undertook the Project : Safe Water Saves Young Lives. A water project involving the putting up of a Water Purification System in the school to provide potable water to the students and teachers. Likewise, the club substantially donated books and school materials to PVES Another project the club undertook was the Safe Waste Management & Sanitation Saves Young Lives whereby the rehabilitation of the restrooms of the school were done to enable the students to have a healthy and environment friendly comfort rooms thereby alleviating the occurrence of health hazards and other diseases. The formation of the Rotary Community Corp of PVES was finalized with the teachers & parents as its members. The RCC shall be one of our Partners – in - Service. 2. The adoption of the Our Lady of Pillar Parish Medical Dental Community Service Volunteer Group whereby the club initiated the Project: Early Detection Saves Lives. Early detection of fetus among the women of the depressed areas in Brgy. Pilar was the main target in which the club donated to the group composed of doctors and nurses, sets of Fetal Heartbeat Doppler Machine, Nebulizers, digital thermometers, Glucose Test Machine, wheel chair and other related sundry items and accessories. This project is a sustained activity of the Rotary volunteers and RCLPW Rotarians. 3. Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Project was undertaken and completed in Nasugbu, Batangas in cooperation with the Cancer Doctor Specialists from UST and Astra Zenica. The project entailed the rigid seminar / training symposium conducted for the Barangay Health Officers and Barangay Captains of Nasugbu numbering about 600 who painstakingly and intensely listened to the lecturers and actively participated in the discussion on how to detect the possible breast cancer amongst women and even men alike. The goal of the seminar/symposia is to train the health officers in disseminating the proper process of detecting lymph nodes around womens’ breasts to their constituents in their respective barangays. 4. Outreach / Gift Giving visit to the Elsie Gaches Village where disabled wards of about 100 children aged 1 to 21 years old with different cases of mental retardation, mongoloid, cerebral palsy and polio victims were given gifts & food.. The Interactors of Hongkong of District 3330 joined us in this activity as their goodwill gesture & apostolate work.
